Our Favorite Hikes
Make sure you pack water and wear good bug spray – the mosquitoes can be bad at certain times of the year. If you are bringing a dog, bring your leash.

Hike Lana Falls to Silver LakeA great family hike! The two mile, uphill hike is on a road so its not difficult to navigate, even with little ones. If they get tired, you can stop at the falls, which are only about ½ mile up – there are picnic tables and restrooms (with latrines) there. To get there: Take the 73 East from the center of Brandon and then the 53 north. About 6 miles, on the right is the parking lot for the trail. The trail is to your right, through some rocks.

Hike the North Side of the Long Trail to the Cliffs
Definitely for those seeking a workout. While the journey is just over a mile, the climb can be arduous and the view from the cliffs, especially in the fall, is worth it. Picnic on the cliffs and enjoy the view. There are signs from the Long Trail to the cliffs. To get to the Long Trail: Take the 73 East to the top of Brandon Gap – there’s parking on your right. The trail north is across the street. You can also head south for a more leisurely hike – and no cliffs.

Leicester Hollow
Another way to Silver Lake – Great for runners as there are no big hills. The slightly uphill journey goes on for close to 4 miles, meandering next to and crossing a creek numerous times. Idyllic and quiet, with a forest canopy above and gurgling brook below; lots of birds. Not really a good place for a picnic hike, however. To get to Leicester Hollow: Take the 73 east out of the center of Brandon – just past the Churchill House B&B (yellow house on your left) there is a dirt road on your left. Park at the bottom, across from the driveway. Please be respectful as people do live in the house at the bottom. Go straight ahead and follow the path over the bridge – gorgeous!

This list will probably change so come back often to try new hikes. FYI – you can also walk into town if you are not into hiking – not on Route 7 – there’s a dirt road south of us – ask us for directions. It’s about a mile and a half walk by farmhouses, corn fields and past the mansions on Park Street.
